Group Peer Support Meetings are held monthly on the first Monday of every month. The location details are available on request or you can be added to our mailing list to be kept up to date!
Group Meetings are scheduled for 2 hours and are in person or virtual. Mobility can be an issue but we want to still make sure that you feel supported by the group if you are unable to attend in person. These meetings are great to hear about a variety of experiences from our peers. They can help show that we have similar struggles, share unique solutions to challenges, have discussions on accessibility and other social issues and really there is no limit to what we can talk about. If you are unable to attend in person, the meetings will be available virtually where you can still participate with the group!
The meetings are ever evolving, the structure can change based on how many people attend. Ideally we hope to have a 15 minute presentation at the start followed by some discussion before opening the floor to the group for anyone to share questions or experiences! There is a great mix of new and experienced amputees and as we grow in numbers hope to represent a wider range of different amputations.
Group Peer Meetings are run and organized by an Amputee Coalition of Canada Certified Peer Support Advisor and Trainer to ensure that everyone in attendance is made to feel welcome, has an opportunity to participate if they wish and all considerations that are regulated by the ACC PV Program are strictly upheld!
